Spills happen. When you spill something on your beautiful oriental rug the normal reaction is to panic and try anything you can to remove the spill. It’s important to remember when you spill something that many home cleaning remedies and spot removers can damage the wool fibers, cause bleeding, and actually set in stains. When you spill something the first thing you should do is use a white towel or paper towel to blot up as much of the spill as you can. Do this by simply placing the towel on the affected area, push down on the towel and hold down pressure for 30-60 second at a time. Repeat this process until you are no longer getting any of the spill to transfer onto the towel. Next, get the area damp with cold water and again blot it up with a dry white towel.
